Santa Paws

Kelly Fitzpatrick

Santa Paws was a public event held by Tail Wagz Dog Training to raise funds for rescue group S.A.F.E (Saving Animals From Euthanasia”. The event saw over 100 dogs patake in having their photo taken with Santa. It was not only a wonderful turn out but also and a lot of fun. Thank you to all that volunteered to help on the day and thank you to everyone who came along and donated so generously. See you all next year!

My Tribe - Dogs, Children & Safety

Kelly Fitzpatrick

My Tribe - it consists of more than 1 dog and just one baby.

They love him and are so careful and sweet BUT they are ALSO …dogs.

While I’m there, with them.. so is my control over them. Sure, I trust them. But we’ve all been there where you come home to find they’ve done something super naughty and THEY KNOW IT!!
So as much as I trust the dog that they are when i am there, I will never trust the dog that they are without me there - not while George is also so unpredictable and small.

I use Mat Training every single day - especially at meal times to make sure they are happy and spending time with us but also he is safe and I am sane (ish) 😂.

They are all darlings, when they know I’m watching! Hahaha

Notes: Always supervise children & dogs, don’t expect your dog to have the patience of a saint, give them a break and try to teach “gentle” patting on the dog’s back rather than having the child in the face of the dog. As much as you would let the dog be rough with the child do not let the child be rough with the dog.

Always introduce with the dog on lead and in a calm state.

Keep children away from feeding zones and do not let children manage feeding regimes.

If you are unsure seek the advice and guidance of a professional & reputable Dog Trainer.

Keeping Dogs Cool During Summer

Kelly Fitzpatrick

How do you keep your pups happy in the heat? Sure there are lots gadgets and plenty of gear you can get to help; cooling mats are great, bandanas with ice pack inserts, wading pools, but what about summer cooling TREATS? Now that I have a baby I can’t always have all of my dogs inside with me, anyone with children no doubt understand that even with the best Mat Trained dogs its just not the easiest feat having multiple dogs indoors constantly. While dogs might be well under control, the fact is - the baby isn’t! (I’ll keep trying :D ).

So when my pooches are outside on a hot day I like to give them a nice cool treat from the freezer that they can enjoy either inside their crate or under a tree in the breeze.

I always like to make sure I have a stock of different varieties but my go to are Stuffed Hooves and Coated Cookies.

I fill hooves & coat cookies in sausage meat or liver paste and then freeze them.

It’s a great way to keep them entertained, cool and it also prolongs the life of the hooves (added bonus!)

What do you do?
